Trick or treat
It was a sad Halloween night for me.
I rushed home that evening. As fast as one can in five o'clock traffic. Over an hour later still stuck in traffic I began to cure at random cars and sing Michelle Branch and Fiona Apple. That helped a bit. CVS was my next stop, I needed some candy. It ws packed of course! I had to wait for a parking spot and then wait ten minutes in line with my assorted goodies. I got Reece's cups, KitKats, Snickers and Tootsie Roll Pops! ($15 worth) I see little cute kiddies walking around as I slowly approach my house.
I run inside and decide to get the candy ready first. I'm going to put on a 'costume', but didn't want kids to come while I was getting ready so got the candy ready first. I sliced opened the cellophane packages that was corralling the rows of chocolate and peanut butter. I tore at the package of snickers, ripped it down the side and let the bars cascade into the tub. Now that the candy was in order I dashed into my bedroom to get ready.
I pulled on some solid pants and a tanktop. I pulled my hair back into a funky updo and searched for my apron. I was going to be a baker....it was easy and I didn't have to buys anything for the costume. I rouged my cheeks so they looked flushed and pink. Then used some flour in the kitchen to splash in my hair, on my apron and face. I was all set.
Two hours passed....not a soul came to my door. I had three jack-o-lanterns lit up outside, one skeleton and a ghost. Our porch light is the brightest on the block, yet no trick or treaters were coming. At 8 I got undressed and washed off my face and everything. It was hopeless. My halloween officially sucked.
I actually did get one set of three lil ones. But it was so after the fact (8:30ish) that I didn't even care that much, plus I had taken off my costume:(
I hope this is not an indication of my holiday season to come...no more disappointment!!
